Tree Art

Tree sculptures.

I have always been interested in making sculpture, especially in wood.  Luckily, I work at a Council who have the creativity to let me make these large tree sculptures.  It is all in the name of giving back to the community.  Nobody is too happy when a tree has to be removed, but people understand it. Most people are happy when they see these tree sculptures. The Hague City Council won the 2017 Dutch award for most innovative city when it comes to its approach to trees and greenery.

Bowls made from local trees

I make these bowls from scrap wood that would have gone in to the shredder. The wood is only from fallen or diseased trees. When a person buys a bowl, they get the exact GPS location of where the tree stood and a collage of photos of the process from tree to bowl.

Community Tree wrap

.This is a lime tree near a public square, on the nomination list to be taken down within three years.  Instead the council decided to get the local pensioners involved in a beautiful project.  The 40 metre scarf was knitted and I was paid by the council to do the wrap.
